I reckon you might go for 'Terrapin Station', Martin. Much better on second listen, Chris. The medley at the end is like all these things, weaker than the shorter stand-alone songs. I think the opener Estimated Prophet is probably the best of the bunch. It's not going to make me rush out to check their back-catalogue but it gives me something to hook onto which I've never had before.

Love the sleeve art though!
I find even Captain Beefheart much more accessible! YMMV

Whats the saying - Rather dead than a dead Though Jammy , if I had to spend to spend 2 weeks on a rig with a load of sweaty man , I may be a grateful dead fan as well . Oops sorry, I meant to say I would be gratefully dead .

Finally set it up in a Spotify playlist and listening to it on the 'big rig' through the Raspberry Pi. It sounds better like this and I really like Estimated Prophet.
I'm not saying I'm suddenly going to become a Dead Head, but I've finally got something of theirs I can listen to.

I have also tried them again and still don't get it. As someone else wrote recently " Always preferred the concept of the Grateful Dead to the sound of them. I tried their albums over the years and could never get past the bloodless voices and the lack of whomp in the rhythm section. "You have to see them live," said people. I did that a few times but always felt like an unbeliever at a revival meeting. " Sorry...
