I'll kick this off with an album that I really should like because I love much of Van Morrison's work. It's also the album that is often quoted by many people as his best work. Not to me, it isn't. The album in question is Astral Weeks, his first. Someone was waxing lyrical about the song Sweet Thing, just today. I don't really care how poignant the lyrics are, it's a harsh screechy mess sung by a less mature Van the Man and seemingly recorded on a dictaphone. I have tried and tried to get into this album and I just cannot. His follow-up Moondance is as stunning as Astral Weeks is awful and an album I am always returning to. You want poignant, try Into The Mystic. Wonderful!
Sorry, VM fans, I just can't agree with you about Astral Weeks.

Apparently, according to the whole bloody world, I'm supposed to *adore* The Blue Nile's " A Walk Across The Rooftops" but I don't, I think it's awful. In my opinion Ivor Sigmund Tiefenbrun MBE, the Gorbals Gobshite, has manged to sell you a load of Linn badged bollocks purporting to be hifi. I've just subjected myself to the title track once more, to see if, perhaps, one or the other of us, the album or me, has mellowed over the years. Nope, it's still cacophonous crap. Next.

Great recordings, excellent vocals and musicianship, and popular following but I just can't make it through an album by Dead Can Dance. Wish it were otherwise...

Oh gawd, it's all coming back now. To think I bought the album in a time when you just took a chance on things. I must have played it about twice. Awful.

Bat Out of Hell by Meat Loaf. Everyone I know loves it. I just don't get it, there is nothing much there and as for that title track, it's just bloody annoying.
