Ok so I know this isn't going to reach a wide audience but I don't care, I want to share it anyway.
This is Forest Scenes by Mizu and I think it's beautiful. It's an experimental / ambient album of which the title is self-explanatory, weaving quite a spell with its web of cello, digital FX and field recordings. My son has informed me that "Mizu" means water in Japanese; she is a classically trained cellist of obviously high calibre having studied at the Juilliard.
< Forest Scenes, MIZU’s latest full-length, is an acknowledgment of the mystery of transcendent experiences and the thrills of self-discovery. The record charts multitudinous connections, inspired in equal parts by the vast urbanity of São Paulo, where MIZU composed the record, the queer spaces and dancefloors of New York City, and in the more abstract place of a self in transition. Forest Scenes deftly interweaves the organic and the synthetic, its wide range of sonic densities a reflection of its diverse origins. >
I really do find the music very engaging. You can read more about the album here -

I happened to see this shortly after your post, Jules, so I'm giving it a try. It's on Qobuz in hi-res here: open.qobuz.com/track/242515805It's started very well with the atmosphere wrap-around effective. Elements of Jon Hopkins there, too. Nice counter to my Dead Can Dance Album Choice.

It has been a mostly nice experience (with the exception of prphtbrd) and she has found her own sound world. Good for her and I shall look up more of her creations. 4/5

I am liking it so far Jules except for the track like electronic noise. Yet again I think it needs something like the Stax to really make the best of this. I am not sure how to score it yet

I am liking it so far Jules except for the track like electronic noise. Is that the unpronouncable one that I didn't like?

Not my cup of herbal tea I'm afraid, although, after watching the Pavane video I wonder if I'd have enjoyed it more as an audio-visual offering.
Just about clinging on by its fingernails to a 3/5

Thanks Paul - I actually think it would make an excellent fully immersive AV installation of some kind ...
