According to Last.fm for 2023 (I have Bubble scrobble my playing to Last.fm):
- I played 1,226 dfferent albums - I listened to 21 days, 22 hours of music - I was the 20th top listener to Sarabeth Tucek and 10th top listener of Joan of All - I was the 17th top listener of Softer Side by Art School Girlfriend - My top tag was female vocalists (no surprise) - Art School Girlfriend were my #1 act, then Lana Del Rey, then Dead Can Dance - My top track was Tell Me So by Melissa Tallon
Interesting stuff.
Would love to see others' statistics.

Last.fm stats for 2023;- Total songs played 16,735 from 1,439 different albums and 725 artists - I listened to 54 days, 20 hours of music - Top 25% for my number 1 artist, Steven Wilson who I played 459 times - Top album was The Harmony Codex by Steven Wilson (top 20% listener) - My top listening tag was Jazz (this did surprise me!) - Top 5 Artists; 1. Steven Wilson, 2. Miles Davis, 3. Esbjörn Svensson Trio, 4. Bob Dylan, 5. Hania Rani - Top track played was Impossible Tightrope by Steven Wilson
Good that the stats backed up my choice for album of the year, which was The Harmony Codex.

When I retire I hope to double my listening time, too!

Well you say that, but my working years were a bit higher overall (I retired in 2015 . . . can't really count my short China spell in 2016). But then I did play music at my desk as well as at home.
Interestingly the below seems to confirm my thoughts about my time with Roon and Tidal. I thought I was listening to less music and I was right - I used Roon and Tidal during 2021 and 2022. Very imprecise data analysis I know, but nothing else changed other than me reverting back to what I used before, my own JRiver music server and Spotify.
I still want to switch to Qobuz though and as soon as Qobuz connect works with the WiiM Pro (it's been promised for sometime now), I will. But for now I'm definitely playing more music without Roon/Tidal.

Interesting, Tim. To what do you attribute the fall in use during Roon/Tidal years? Usability, sound quality or something else?
Does the WiiM Pro not have a direct Qobuz setting, like the Rendus?
I find my restriction to listening in the evenings after work limits me to my current average as I get tired and need to go to bed early. I can only predict that it will go up from September.
EDIT: I have you to thank for using Last.fm as I had not heard of it before you spoke about it.

Scrobble: (Internet slang) To publish one's media consumption habits to the Internet via software, in order to track when and how often certain items are played.

Interesting, Tim. To what do you attribute the fall in use during Roon/Tidal years? Usability, sound quality or something else? Hard to say really, possibly the paradox of choice in that Roon has too much information and you go down rabbit holes rather than playing music. It did irritate me with it's constant updates - I really like to be in charge of that as you know. Far too often I'd go to use it and couldn't until it had carried out an update, that really got annoying. When they took away the ability to play my own music files without an internet connection though, that was the time for me to leave. However, I'd still recommend it to people as it's the best there is IMO, it's just not for me and I think using it for over 2 years was a fairly good trial.
As for the sound quality of Roon or Tidal? Can't really say without a blind test, overall though playing my own FLAC files from my own server subjectively sounds better to me, or probably should say that overall I find it preferable. I also prefer the simplicity, it just works all the time and nothing changes until I choose. I prefer to have control over my own tech and music, not be reliant or steered by an outside entity . . . but that's me. So I'd say in summary it was a combination of usability and limitations compared to JRiver, which for playing your own music library I find a better option - it's faster, simpler, easier and I'm in total control.
No, Qobuz connect does not work with anything right now, it's in development. You can play Qobuz directly from within the WiiM app, it has Qobuz integration, but it's not as slick as the Qobuz app. I'm confident it's coming though and when it does, happy days, as I'm really impressed with the WiiM as a DNLA renderer and streamer via my DAC. It does sound mediocre via it's own DAC mind you, but I didn't buy it for that.

EDIT: I have you to thank for using Last.fm as I had not heard of it before you spoke about it. Well I'd like to take the credit for that, but it's all down to Werner Berghofer who you might remember from The Art of Sound. It was him who got me into it.
