The original mix dubbed onto a live version. Best sound I could find. But no M.O.:

Agreed, and that one's about the music, not pyrotechnics. Here's another...

Big Jim led the way...
And where Big Jim led, Jimmy - "Little Jim" - Page (also second guitarist on the above track)
Ritchie Blackmore,
and my favourite of the three, Albert Lee, followed.

Thanks Paul. Haven't seen that particular Dave Berry video with Big Jim before. I always thought it was an intriguing listen with Dave B's vocals and Big Jim's guitar.

It's one of my favourite 45s of all time, mostly because of Jim's guitar. A double-neck, and a wah-wah (a DeArmond foot volume and tone control) pedal, in 1964? Both were pretty much unheard of, but as far as I know Jim had been using that wah-wah since 1959. I've got to toss this one in. No lead break, but the guest vocalist is interesting. Jackie Atom eh? Well, Jackie is actually the songwriter, Mr Peacock. That's Trevor Peacock; probably best remembered as "Jim Trott" from The Vicar of Dibley. I love musical trivia.

John can you mention which guitarist is featured in the first clip, I cant see it.
And you've mentioned Fredrik Thordendal before. Can you leave a comment about him?

Ernie Isley Fredrik is inspired by Holdsworth and has fluid style. At times his playing is quite outside. He guitar is tuned down in the Djent style. Hi plays a lot of odd time signatures

Three brilliant choices, John. Ernie is hugely underrated and a wonderfully fluid and melodic player, Eddie Hazel (Funkadelic) produced something that has never been equalled, and certainly never bettered (in my opinion) with Maggot Brain, and Terry Kath, who died at the age of 31, from "an unintentional self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head" would surely have gone on to become a Hell of a lot more famous if it weren't for his drug/health problems. He had a great voice too. Jimi Hendrix once cited Terry Kath as one of his favourite guitarists, and said he considered Kath to be "the best guitarist in the universe".

The Chicago item is a particular favourite, John. Love the pent-up, contained, constrained Lee B's performance here:

I still have trouble reconciling the Hellecasters Jerry Donahue with the Fairport Convention Jerry Donahue. I also find it amusing that they all play " Telecasters" built by other guitar makers; there's not a Fender amongst 'em.

One of my favourite Dave Gilmour's solos. Simple, but effective:

One of my favourite Dave Gilmour's solos. Simple, but effective: With, I believe, Mick Green on 2nd guitar, Ian Paice on drums, and Pete Wingfield playing keyboards.

Another underrated player but he made up for it with his own ego

More Albert. As I remarked to someone the other day, if I was given the gift of being able to play with the chops of any other guitarist, it would probably be Albert Lee.
