Speaker choice is so very personal - what's one person's special speaker is another's bleurgh! Absolutely. Several folks here, I suspect, have acquired their Dream Speakers. Martin, myself, probably Justin, Pete and Mike and others. And they're all different, sometimes hugely so, in their presentation. One thing I will say, though. It's usually expensive, with the speakers being the most expensive part of the system (in my case by a long way). But it's worth it. Over a decade since I bought my MBLs, and I have never regretted it. So if you can manage to afford your Dream speaker, then do it! As Martin said, Life is too short to be without speakers that you love.

Does John have a 13k budget? I figured that if John paid the 250 then Mike will pay the 13.

The small Elacs I heard were outstanding. If they have scaled that performance up then they should prove good.

I visited Premier Sound today in West London and went through quite a few speakers. A big thank you for your time. 1) JBL L82 Pros The Mids can be special. Cons I disliked the bass it is slow at best Also something strange happening in the treble at times 2) Dynaudio Evoke 20 Better balanced but I always felt like I was hearing the speakers rather than the music 3) Elac Vela BS 403.2 This are really dynamic perhaps a bit to much in that it never drew me into the music 4) Triangle Comete EZ This are quite musical Nice mids and bass not bad. However not good with complex music due to the treble not being great. 5) JBL 4309 Listened for a few seconds treble sounded fizzt so just did not bother to investigate 6) Amphion Argon3S Not bad but not engaging for me I think mainly due to the treble 7) Bowers & Wilkins 705 Signature. The most musical speakers for me that I heard Just lacks that really nice timbre of the Gold Note A3 8) Dynaudio Special Forty Similar to the B&W but still feel like I am hearing the speaker rather than the music 9) Elac Navas Nice speakers well balanced better bass than the B&W but Treble not quite as good, Nice open sound

My main take away is the only speaker I have really liked is the Gold Note A3 Evo. For my tastes and preferences easily the most musical speakers I heard

John, do you intend running them alone or still with a bass solution?

Congratulations on your new speakers, John.
I suspect you were always heading for this result from the first time you heard them!

Congratulations on your new speakers, John. I suspect you were always heading for this result from the first time you heard them! Yes, they are the only speakers I heard that I liked straight away and still think nothing else came close to my preferences

If I had my room treated, I perhaps would not have tried so many speakers and stayed with the MA 100 silvers as nice speakers

Did you ever consider going "up" the MA range, John, to Gold, or even Platinum?
