Hi I've heard that swapping out the input cap and resistor of these 'stats has a beneficial impact (i.e. changing the 220microfarad electrolytic to a polypropylene one). Anyone tried this ? My soldering skills are akin to a zebra playing the violin so have been trying to find some photos of how to do it. Without success. Also, how long should I leave the speakers unpowered so as to make sure they are fully discharged before opening them up ? Cheers

If your soldering skills are not up to it, leave it to a professional. There are high voltages in there and we like to keep every one of our members!
As for discharging them, switch them off (but not the system) and play music through them. When the music stops, they are discharged.

Danger of Death ?
I doubt I would be doing the soldering. My question is whether anyone else has tried this (and details of how to) and how long it takes for the 'speakers to completely discharged. Appreciate your concern for my safety but as these are my seventh pair of 'stats I am well aware of the high voltages concerned - hence the question about time to discharge. Cheers

Probably not, but it may entail fresh underwear. Appreciate the question you're asking, but I really don't know how long it would take the Quads to discharge.
