Interesting Martin.
I've had the problem once recently. This was not using the Gustard cable. This time I tried recovery switching off Gustard and Najda (DAC) and then pressing play again.
Previously I've had to reboot Rendu too.
Could be a V2.8 vs 2.9 thing (remember V2.7 was horrendous seeming needing all three resetting)?
Or current cable doesn't upset Rendu and just Gustard is crapping out?
This one time was using an old Tablet! Thought I'd try it🙄 Using my modern spec android phone, with this USB cable, I've not had the problem.
Could have been that Bubble UPnP requires more 'heavy lifting' than the tablet can provide? At some point it's game over. Why that would cause the issue further up the chain I don't know. Could be that the problem just occurred again seemingly randomly, could still be the Gustard alone is being naughty..

Judging by the very few times that has ever happened to me (about 4 times ever), I have always seen that the router has lost connection to 4G, so it's not the same scenario. I get 2-3 bars (out of 4) of 4G and it's pretty damned reliable all things considered.

That's interesting.
It could be upstream upsetting down stream.. Certainly since getting V2.8 it is seeming more likely. The instability of mConnect when I tried after SGC recommended it would lean that way.
The current infrequency with my usual set up is okay to live with.
I might try using Lan connected laptop with an emulator like Bluestacks and Bubble UPnP running on that. Might be a whole new adventure ...🙂
That said WiFi seems rock stable, 70+ meg and never drops out for other uses. HD TV streaming is not a problem for me.
But I don't know about micro level instability, might be these media server apps getting upset where Chromecast and TV apps don't?

It's not the wi-fi dropping out, it could be the internet feed.

Sounds a bit like my subnet ip address issue. I get the impression the Wi-Fi dropped momentarily and a new ip address was then allocated..just a guess re my setup.

Anyone else set up Spotify in Spotify Connect under Settings - you then connect using Urendu-number (thus available), rather than seeing Sonicore to connect to in the Spotify Device App connect. It's sounds better?!

I switch my Rendu to Spotify using the app switcher, then select it as a Spotify Connect device in the Spotify app.
Don't do it much anymore as the Qobuz catalogue has expanded so much.

Yes, that was how I was doing it. Try the other way just to see if you experience a sonic difference? You put your Spotify account details into the Sonore Spotify Connect app.. still have to use the app switcher to activate...

I'm not clear on what the 'other way' is. My Spotify details are already in the Rendu settings. How do I play music?

Yes I don't get it either but sounds worth investigating!

If you look under Spotify Connect app in Rendu settings, from clean install, your Spotify details will not be there.
If you switch for example from DLNA to Spotify in the switch app, you can use a Spotify app in phone tablet etc to connect - "this is the way"🙂
Without Spotify sub details in Rendu you will only see 'Sonicore' or similar word that you can connect to. It works and plays.
If you have entered your details as first above, you will see 'Urendu...' that you can connect to.
I think it sounds different between the two.

Ok, I've always used the above method (with my Spotify details entered) and Spotify Connect direct to the Rendu. It sounds pretty good within the limitations of Spotify.

Yeah. Regardless; I find I have to boost the upper mid horn dB levels a tiny bit, and the ribbon tweeters a bit more to get some dynamics out of Spotify. It's too polite otherwise (muffled is too strong a word).

I've just played a track from Qobuz and then switched the App switcher to Spotify Connect. Playing the same track from the Spotify app now:
It's more polite, the errors are mostly of omission. Lacking in detail although there is more when the song is less busy. There is less energy in the upper mid / lower treble. Dynamics are obviously lower and there is less impact.
Yup, Spotify is OK until you hear it from Qobuz. There is no going back.

Well, the lock up problems persist but are quite infrequent. Bubble UPnP app basically looks like it is on pause with flashing 0.0 secs on Now playing screen. No actions in our on bubble change it. Only a Rendu reset and Gustard (or other USB to SPdif converter) off and on, will resolve it. Bubble UPnP app can then proceed.
Tried all the settings I can see / think of. Eliminated other hardware bit by bit. Lower resolutions make no difference.
Using mConnect it just locks up, won't play, no flashing or or other indicator.
Common denominator is always Ultrarendu. Regardless of SW version🙂 I'm living with it.
As an aside, does anyone use an Apple product 😈 as a controller? I realised Marie has an iPad. I see the setting in the Rendu system.
Can Qobuz etc be streamed over a media server app like Bubble UPnP etc? Or is it locked in to Airplay (whatever that is?), itunes, Roon etc?
I know nothing about Apple systems. A

Can Qobuz etc be streamed over a media server app like Bubble UPnP etc? Strictly speaking, Bubble is a controlling app. No music passes through it, and that's important from a sound quality point of view.

Spotify Connect works very well with my Rendu and Mac Mini. Need to try it on my new iMac too.
