As most of us know the Oehlbach XXL Masterclock Reclocker gives us a taste of what a Reclocker can do I have done the following to optimise the reclocker
I use good quality USB cables and unfortunately they can make a difference
I use a BR sticky pad underneath and this helps a bit
I am using a temple supercharger which to be honest is overkill for the marginal gains it makes with the reclocker
Finally the biggest surprise are using 2 IFI USB silencers on the USB output. This is where I heard the biggest gains and yes using 2 is better than using 1 in my system

I wonder what happens if two Oehlbachs are used? Tom (of this parish and elsewhere) had two Mutecs used sequentially and found an uplift in SQ.

Did you replace the tiny usb cable that came with the Oehlbach?

I would like to replace this cable as its so short it doesnt allow the box to sit properly. I have replaced the USB cable to the dac with a Supra-omly 12 quid on ebay.

This is where I heard the biggest gains and yes using 2 is better than using 1 in my system Good tip with the IFI Silencers. I have a Silencer and Silencer+. I had tried two after my ATB before going into the Oehlbach but not after. If fact, I had found one before better than two. Two after make quite a difference. I am using a 6.5V LiFePO4 battery to power the reclocker, which works great. My AQ Carbon sounds great between the reclocker and DAC but, despite "burning in" for weeks, my WireWorld - Silver Starlight 7 always sounds flat in comparison and is relegated to ATB-Reclocker duties. |

I agree with you really do hear the difference using 2 after the XXL I was quite surprised by this
The Lifepro battery sounds like a excellent idea. Do you have a link it might be a good resource for others

Do you have a link it might be a good resource for others This is the one I bought NX LifPO4 AML9142, in expensive but currently out of stock. You can charge it with a suitable 6V Lead-Acid charger. I use this one: NOCO Genius G750UK, which cost more than the battery. |
