I am sure you will let us know .
MODERATION: by 'not suggesting' something, you are in fact putting the idea into people's heads. It's really not necessary.
p.s - i had to laugh at the cryogenically frozen crossovers , can you measure that ?

This thread looks a lot like an advert Dave. Maybe I'm missing a vital sub-text which you're about to reveal. Does this Apple person have particularly influential ears? So far, the premise appears to be that since he is who he is, his opinion is more valid than anyone else's.

No, but musical industry people often listen on studio nearfeild systems. It's great such a luminary has come into the real world ?
You could say anything I post is an advert, so I'll get my coat now. Such a shame.............

Why didn't you mention the first thought in your original post - that's the vital sub-text that I was looking for.

Well we all have a cross to bear Still kudos for the corporate giant right hand man to admit to old skool big warm fuzzy sounds that give him that funny feeling. Is that Apples shares I can hear dropping as we speak? Somebody give this link to Rob Follis

It doesn't really go well with the sale of Beats to Apple, does it? Good that he likes a proper hi-fi system, sad that they buy the next closest thing to Bose: a brand that doesn't care about accurate reproduction.

I thought Apple Corp was the record label and nowt to do with everybody's favourite computer maker.
Sadly, Apple computer is now far more about making dosh than the best they can do. MacOs still does it for me though. The hardware can come in any size or shape but the software is the important bit.
I've never heard any Beat stuff so can only go on hearsay. Trendy though so thats OK.

Gordon, I've had the misfortune to listen to some Doctor Dre beats headphones, they are awful, in relation to the sort of sound quality we are used to. It's all boom, boom, boom with seriously over hyped bass, and you can't turn it off.
Alan
PS they are stupidly expensive as well for what they offer

Since when did Icon Audio valve amps have anything to do with what was World Audio Designs ? Sorry Pre, I always forget it was WAD, I get confused with Icon audio brand. However to me its the same style of stuff just with a different badge and Hifi World has a big affiliation with them to, so Symantec's aside forgive my mis-branding. Staying on the subject of World, the unique owner Mr Keywood has further managed to reduce his creditability further this month with an interesting debarcle on the measurement of cartridges which is quite amusing given his stance of product measurements and his high profile partners Rhode & Schwarz. Hifi World in actionNot sure where vinyl get to have an s/n greater than CD though

Not sure where vinyl get to have an s/n greater than CD though Since vinyl can demonstrate incredible dynamics, it's possible to set the volume just so, so that background and surface noise are only just audible (with a quiet enough phono amp) and the dynamic peaks will take your head off. In that way, admittedly by biasing things in favour of vinyl, it can go head to head and even beat CD while still not having the same technical S/N ratio.
