Good price for a powerbank but won't power up the Tinkerboard as it's only 2.1A output ...

For that money you should consider a good 5V LPSU rather than faffing around with recharging. Remember that LKS on eBay? Yes indeed, there is also our tried and trusted friend from 'Weilang Audio' which can be had for under 50 quid now - claimed max current is 3.5A.

Good morning my power hungry chums. Never one to be easily defeated I have found a powerbank that on paper fits the bill perfectly for the Tinker. It is said to deliver 3A via both usb and usb-c outputs and is also a rather nice slimline design. Just ordered on a 'lightning deal' at Amazon for 18.75 which is nearly half price. Should receive mine this evening. www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07SB54Z3D/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_fo27Db68VQ8WW

Exactly.
I've noticed that Amazon are now refunding even as soon as your return is in the post, assuming you are using their return service.

26800mAh is a good capacity, pretty good value for money.

Definitely a much improved performance from the new set up today using John’s battery, with more rez and detail.
His favourite Dream Theater test track was the best sounding track I played - can recommend to anyone for an epic 10 minute system workout. The prodigious bass on Camila Cabello's 'Liar' had a few things rattling in the room at times!
I also double checked spoti settings and found that quality had been set to ‘automatic’ somehow as opposed to ‘very high’ and also ‘normalise volume’ had been ticked which isn't a good thing, so have reset those. Don't know how these get changed ...

Yes, that track is a tour de force and I've played it often since John introduced me to it.
Normalise Volume is the spawn of Beelzebub, rewriting all the data on the fly while attempting to normalise, with the nasty effects of pumping and bringing up background noise during the quiet bits. Exactly the opposite of high fidelity!

I am really glad that the battery helps and that you are enjoying the Tinkerboard with the reclocker

The Charmast powerbank arrived tonight and it is true to its specs - managed to fire up the Tinker first time. Very pleased.

I have finally decided that the LPSU I bought actually makes my ATB setup sound worse than using the power bank does. It's listening to "The Comet Is Coming" that has brought me to this realisation. I think, previously, that perhaps I just didn't want to admit it to myself. I hit track 2 on The Comet... and couldn't believe how "spiky" it sounded. If music could go rusty that's how it would sound.
I've got the power bank back on now and there is a ton more bottom end and the overall sound is much smoother, but in a good way. Bugger! I now have to find another use for the LPSU, or write off sixty quid.

My experience says supercap PSU > battery > linear PSU.

My wallet says "power bank." Nothing beats a good powerbank for PPP - performance per pound. 😁

Page 9 of this thread, Alan. theaudiostandard.net/post/167245It's quite annoying as I selected it deliberately to power the ATB.

I added the Oehlbach Pureclock which I picked up at a good price I have added it to the Tinkerboard along with 2 IFi USB Silencers. Complete overkill but more authority, better separation and detail. A bit surprised that I got a further improvement A pity the deal is no longer around
