A couple more photos added of the box/packing arrangement, and I should have mentioned the spare earcups!
A beautifully finished and presented pair of headphones.

I am really tempted by these, have got Grado PS500 at the moment and have heard really good things about Hifiman headphones.

Have you heard any planar magnetics, Paul? Quite distinctive - a very bold and powerful sound. Quite astonishing clarity and presence, but without being bright (so they are more restrained at high frequencies than Grados, all of which have a forward peresentation imo). They do need a decent amp, not just a phone or similar to drive them.

No, not like Stax AT ALL. Totally different. Not far off polar opposites. Who talks all this bunk? Stax don't even try to get close to the bold and solid presentation of planar magnetics. If I were to pick out one charactistic of planar magnetics that really stand out it would be the solid and powerful bass. Electrostatics? - not even close! Stax do the shimmering, delicate highs and max-rez mids. Not planar mags best suits imo.

... well, OK. In fairness, both types have in common a very open and spacious presentation which at first blush invites a comparison. But not a whole lot else imo. YMMV.
