I can think of many albums I don't like, but I remember many years ago buying a copy of Mason + Fenn - Profiles (Nick Mason of Pink Floyd) and being hugely disappointed with it. I must have played it, oh, once!

"Flow Motion" by Can. Played it once and realised it was a mistake. Some years later, after moving house, I came across it in the collection and decided to give it a spin (LP) and found I was enjoying. Until Pinky and Perky started sing that is. Yep, it was on 45 rpm. Back at 33 1/3 and into the cupboard it went. I still have it for some reason and I did play it again at some point. Briefly.

Just played a bit via Tidal of the re-mastered version. Nicely produced, but dreadful!

It would probably be one of those "Hare Krishna" albums that the saffron-robed baldies used to pretend featured George Harrison and flogged up and down Oxford St. amongst other places.

It's multi-purpose! Worst Album Cover, Worst Songs, Worst Lyrics.

Joanna Newsom - Ys. I had forgotten that I actually bought this on CD. Why is hidden in the mists of time, I must have not been feeling well that day. Positively the very worst thing in my entire collection, I keep it as an example of the bad advice she was given in letting it see the light of day. Utterly horrible.

Venetian Snares - Making Orange Things. I bought this on CD too, but deliberately. Imagine the worst music you can with all of your resources. Nope, not bad enough.

How on earth did you come to buy this (outstanding) album?

I'm going to have to think hard about this one, as I really can't think of too many. There are loads that I've bought as a part of a job lot, but I think that would be against the spirit of the OP.
The best I can come up with so far is that album by Air that I bought for one of the album club threads on AoS - 'Moon Safari' or something? AlexUK pointed out that it could be had for a pound on Amazon. The deal was that if you didn't like it, he would give you your money back. So I got myself a copy. I hated it! I didn't take Alex up on his offer, but I offered it FOC to the membership. Someone took it off my hands and I even undertook to pay for the postage, just to get it out of the house!
I know it's well liked, but I think it's a big pile of elephant poo.

How on earth did you come to buy this (outstanding) album? Someone played it at a show. It was so dreadful I had to buy a copy for posterity.

I forgot another album like Chris I got AOS to blame for this I was chatting to the Dalek and he recommended a band called Logic that in his words produced a classic AOR album so found a LP on eBay so bought a copy.
It was a really bad Christain rock LP and went to a charity shop.
Absolutely dire
