Hi Tim
I have several versions of this including an SACD version a DSD file etc.
The very best sounding one by a country mile that I have is the Sony 20bit superbitmap Mastersound gold disc from 1992? so natural and effortless. We even demonstrate the DSD against this one, it is embarrassing.
Think I paid about £15 for it from a record fair.

I have the WYWH SACD and it's nothing special.

I've just listened to WYWH (the track) on Qobuz 16/44 and it sounds much better than the SACD did.

Doubt any of you have heard the new Analogue Productions version which is maybe what the OP is referring to?
Its up there with the best if you have the kit to get the best out of it.

Sounds pretty special on my SACD player pity Emi would not allow AP the rights to produce a 4LP 45rpm box box
.Analogue Productions got the exclusive for the latter's appearance in 5.1 on SACD. The results are spectacular, given that the progressive rock of the day - this dates from 1975 - was conceived from the outset to immerse the listener in sound. Regardless of its surround sound aspect, this is a dazzling effort...today's discrete multichannel capabilities truly liberate the sound in all of its open and spacious glory." Sound Quality: 92% - Ken Kessler, Hi Fi News ...There really aren't words for how spectacular, and how musically right, Guthrie's remix was and the quality imbued in every bit of this production...I have been hearing this music since the day it arrived in my local record store 35 years ago and never imagined anything like this. Guthrie's expert, musically impeccable multichannel remix added depth and clarity to the superb original, and how he got Richard Wright's ARP string to orbit the room several feet above my heard has to be the result of some sort of voodoo...Mind-boggling." - The Audio Beat,

Is this the a repressing of the 2011 version that KK had a jizz over?

So which is the best Redbook version, in your opinions?
Saw a tribute band a couple of years ago in Wellington. The next best thing. They played the entire WYWH album.
Unlike the original band live, this was 'note for note.' Still damn good.

So which is the best Redbook version, in your opinions? The CBS Mastersound release sounds great.
The 2011 remastering is fine. The thing you'll find with all editions from 1992 to date is that the remastering involves mild compression, which, whilst reducing the dynamic range slightly, creates an impression of greater detail in the quieter parts.
