Jools often turns up a hidden gem and for me, this year, it was 'The Record Company.' They say that their music is influenced by musicians like John Lee Hooker, early punk bands like The Stooges, and rock bands like The Rolling Stones. Yup, that sums 'em up.
The other highlight, for me, was the Hot 8 Brass Band covering Joy Division's "Love Will Tear Us Apart."

I'm going to have to watch it on catch-up as I was denied watching it by a hostile family

Heh, I was forced to watch it by hostile family - pretty torturous, though I enjoyed Mark Almond.

Gave up a few years ago as I rarely enjoyed much if any of it Also unimpressed with the usually good BBC sound quality on all Holland's programmes However, will however make an exception and listen to Paul's selections as he sometimes talks sense
