I don't see it, Mike. Essentially, my LP and CD collections only have value to me. Yes, there are a few notables, direct cuts etc. but it would be more hassle picking them out and selling them than just leaving the collection be.

My version of Ummagumma must be worth much the same as a red vinyl Japanese promo, signed by the band can't add that much Have occasionally seen LPs I have going for a few bob. Rarity is it and I bet we all have a few old ones of worth Did you note one of them was a "World of" David Bowie ? That's a cheapo compilation !

I have two Sheffield Lab original direct cuts: Thelma Houston & Pressure Cooker and James Newton Howard & Friends. I also have a couple of signed albums. There are maybe a few early pressings of value, too. None of them worth breaking up my collection for.

You can see how prices can get silly at an auction, but those prices were achieved by direct sales. By that, I mean that someone thought about the value and pitched a price, while someone else thought that was a fair price and paid it. So there are two mad people involved!

I could have LPs of value but it is unlikely I will ever find out.
Ebay prices can be quite high for what seems to be nothing special

Ebay prices are generally crazy for vinyl in even average condition.
I found there was much better value to be had on Discogs where there is a much bigger spread of prices. You still get massively overpriced stuff there but there are also sellers who like to move stuff on quickly and settle for lower prices.

Always remember a Mekons LP I won on Ebay 99p - including postage Lost interest in the high priced albums

I was lucky enough to have bought most of my used records during what was a bonanza period in the years just after CD was released. In those days, even things like first issue Zappa and Mothers albums could be had mint or vg condition for twelve quid and often much less.

I've about 1.5k albums. Mainly between £10-£30 current value. Some £70-£100 current value Two at around £250+ current value.
Their monetary value means nothing to me though as the value in them is obviously the music and hearing them on my system and the joy that brings which is priceless.
I'd LOVE an original copy of this from the late great Weldon Irvine
Awesome musicianship, keyboards, horns, the depth and layers..... the trumpet solo from 2.35 is just insainly fabulous !
Unfortunatley the 1973 LP it comes from, Time Capsule goes for £300+ VG, £700+ - £1K+ EX, NM/Mint.
