It's fabulous. It's about 62 minutes too long!

^ that Shosty 7 is fabulous, too - Superb and thoroughly thought out interpretation - very well rehearsed, you can see the concentration and tension in the musicians as the conductor leads them.

The Klaus Mäkelä guy seems a conductorial force to be reckoned with. His Shosty 7, above, is superb and Beethoven 9th below is excellent. Still in his early 20s, amazing.

Wow, his Beethoven is tight and controlled. I must have a look at what he has recorded.

I can't find anything on Qobuz - YouTube might be the only source atm. Although I can't imagine that being the case for long!
Try his Shosty 7 as well.
btw - anyone tried that Midori 4 Seasons yet?

Yep, I'll get those YouTube videos running with my Volumio plug-in tonight. The Beethoven sounds like it's worth an entire play.

Wonderfully sensitive and informed Haydn by Midori Seiler and Concerto Koln.
I find it very soothing too …

There is also a rather delicious bonus at the end of the album - Romance for Violin and Orchestra by Johann Peter Salomon of whom I confess to know nothing.
Apparently he brought Haydn to England in 1791 and 94, was an impresario, violinist / composer and is buried in Westminster Abbey!

... btw - anyone tried that Midori 4 Seasons yet? Er, yes. Or at least, I started to. I'm afraid I couldn't take it seriously. What with the leaves in their mouths, and then replicating the "spaghetti" scene from Disney's "Lady And The Tramp" at 3:38 Tell me though... Those knotted hankies? Did they break into a Morris dance, or did they put them on their heads as an homage to Michael Palin, in his role as the world-renowned welly-boot-wearer, Arthur Gumby?

Well, I'm sure it's not intended to 'be taken seriously'. I was rather taken aback and baffled to start with, but decided to stay with it and I soon got into the right frame of mind and thoroughly enjoyed the antics as they developed in an ever more entertaining manner.
But close your eyes and it is an excellent rendition of T4S. Midori is an excellent violinist ... although she doesn't appear to weigh much.
