Haitink is the man for Mahler's 3rd. Don't think I've ever heard his 9th.

Well worth listening to her Bach Sonatas too ...

The lovely music here inspired me to investigate Jeanne Lamon - a very distinguished and lauded career in Baroque music. Lots of her recordings on Spotify as well. Interesting also to read that whilst largely forgotten now, Gemeniani was a 'superstar' in his day.

This is great fun and rather remarkable.
Also makes the point that it's the talent and virtuosity that's the most important thing, not the instrument!

This is a fabulous selection of music - the Peace Concert at Versailles was 2018 but only just released on Spotify …
Featuring Ms Yuja and the Vienna Phil - now that’s a combo …

There is a smorgasbord supreme of pleasures on this album but Yuja's Ravel is unearthly incandescent. How I wish I had gone to the concert ....

it's great to see RVW on the programme of a major European concert like this.

It's a shame the whole concert isn't available to view.
I also learnt from this recording that the stunning music used partly in the film Excalibur is actually Siegfried's Funeral March by Wagner! It's outstandingly atmospheric.

Siegfried's Funeral March by Wagner! It's outstandingly atmospheric. It's the music of nightmares. I often think of WW2 scenes of devastation when playing that music despite Wagner never having lived to see a world war. The Solti/Decca recording is outstanding.
