More virtuosity from Henning Kraggerud.

Heino Eller violin concerto edit - I didn't get beyond 10 minutes I very much enjoyed it Jerry! Really fine performance too from Baiba Skride. I like the wistful and pastoral romantic feeling that counterbalances the more atonal side of it. Interesting to read that Eller’s first wife was pianist Anna Kremer who was killed in a German concentration camp in 1942. Eller taught composition and one of his students was Arvo Part. I tried it again, much better this time.

Played with feeling but shame she spoils it with some intonation lapses in the first couple of minutes.

Wow, a "dark" Sibelius 2nd symphony, I didn't know it could be done. It sounds like the key is D minor rather than D major!

I'm listening to this again as it's so frickin good. I've only listened to the Sibelius so far and that is excellent. The conductor and orchestra impress as much as the solo violinist.

Yes, the whole 'package' is very impressive but it's the freshness of the approach to his Beethoven that I admire so much. Hope you enjoy it as much as I do. I was listening to it again at a 'demo' this morning.
Not heard the Sibelius yet ...

This is one of the most beautiful pieces of Vivaldi I have heard in a long time. From a newly released third in a series of Cello Concerto recordings. Slinger cello alert!

He might as well be listening to a different album to me. Still not heard the Sibelius but to call the Beethoven 'icey cold' leaves me, how shall I say, somewhat cold ... I keep coming back to it and enjoying it.
