Here's something new to me that I heard on Classic FM whilst driving.
It's the Sinding Violin Concerto, beautifully played by Henning Kraggerud.
Worth checking out more from both violinist and composer!

Absolutely my favourite piece of music and my favourite way of hearing it, played by orchestra rather than organ. Heresy, I know. Has my eyes tearing up at the end climax. Just amazing.

I heard that Stokowski transcription on the radio last night as well! Difficult not to like it ...

Another superb Nelsons recording, this time working his magic on Dvorak 9. Fresh as a daisy and tight as a duck’s backside.

Schumann 2 with 'Jiggy' Gardiner - can’t really criticise the recording and whilst it’s enjoyable enough, it’s just not that memorable as a work to stay in my ‘collection’.

Beethoven Symphony No. 5 - Kleiber, VPO
When you need a great 5th, this is the best.

Heino Eller violin concerto edit - I didn't get beyond 10 minutes I very much enjoyed it Jerry! Really fine performance too from Baiba Skride. I like the wistful and pastoral romantic feeling that counterbalances the more atonal side of it. Interesting to read that Eller’s first wife was pianist Anna Kremer who was killed in a German concentration camp in 1942. Eller taught composition and one of his students was Arvo Part.
