marvellous performances and sq Yes I believe this is his most recent recording of this work - there was a superb earlier recording with The English Concert from 1982.

Yes, good though the Archiv one was I think this later one is better in every way!

Yes, good though the Archiv one was I think this later one is better in every way! One of my favourite earlier recordings was the excellent Antiqua Koln with Reinhard Goebel, also on Archiv. Like Pinnock he has also 'updated' his interpretation with this recording, but I haven't got round to listening yet.

very good at times, but loses her mojo for long periods and just drones on.
Another 20 years and she might be great.

Britten good, Berg a bit of a challenge.

Purcell and Britten on the same album. But it works remarkably well. Very enjoyable.

Interesting and rewarding pianist. But she's not yet ready to record D960 imo. Schmaltzy and over emotional rather than deep and poetic. Try again in 10 years time, lass.

Interesting and rewarding pianist. But she's not yet ready to record D960 imo. It's on the programme for her Barbican recital in a couple of weeks Jerry so will see if her performance changes at all ...

on further listening and consideration, I suspect it's a matter of artistic temperament, she's flamboyant rather than introspective, impulsive rather than structured. Swings and roundabouts, maybe one day she'll combine the two approaches.
Back to David Fray who for me does manage a more integrated and complete performance style, maturity with flamboyance.
