I'm wondering about the Pi-Dac Pro as a headphone amp / Dac / streamer. It's the headphone amp I'm mainly interested in for use with Sennheiser HD600, anyone used or tried it?
Cheers,
Bill

I have the older Pi-DAC+ in my second Pi on headphone duties and can say that it has very good sound quality. I'm guessing the Pro will be better still.

I have never done the direct comparison. The SEG is in my music room and I don't use headphones there.

I like my music fairly lounge via headphones, what's the volume like?

The volume range is just ok for my Superlux HD668B phones. You could ask if they have boosted it at all for the Pro?

I use the IQAudio DAC+ with HD600 and Moode player. Not looking for any improvements, entirely happy with it.
There again I am not a tweaker seeking the last 0.0001% improvement

I had been using a SEG but have recently moved to a Dragonfly Red. Have you turned up the headphone gain output on the SEG? You can also use a 15V PSU, which also add to the gain to drive the HD600. But realistically speaking, a dedicated headphone amp like the Capella will drive the HD600 far better, especially with the variable damping control. I use the HD650 that way.

Stan, I had to move the SEG on, loved it but needed to raise some cash

BeB Volume is more than I can or would want to subject myself to. HD600 are an easier load than HD800 and entirely relaxing to my taste. If you yearn for PRAT etc they may be not to your taste.
Pop up the M40 and listen?

Pop up the M40 and listen? Been using the HD600 for a few years now and love them! I've just bought a secondhand Pi-Dac+ board so will see how it fairs later in the week. Will be up against my Dragonfly Red / Jitterbug.

I Use Senn PX200 II with a Maplins DAC and it can be variable. Use them with an old Samsung phone and they are fine. Hope you are OK when all set up. The difference is the player I use.

After a bit of investigation it appears the headphone amps on both the Pi Dac+ and the Dragonfly Red have virtually the same output - 135mw per channel.
This makes it very interesting as I am happy with the volume on the Dragonfly I'm currently using. Looks like a fair battle!

My board has arrived.
Can any one tell me whether the headphone jack is ready to go or does it need any set up? (Other than changing to the Pi Dac in Volumio).
Going to be giving this a go over the weekend.
Cheers,
Bill

Change to the Pi-DAC as I remember it and don't forget to set the volume below max to start with!
