Cambridge Folk Festival 2018 2 - 5 August
I don't suppose anyone else went did they?
Some quite astonishing performances this weekend and my first time going - depending on the line-up, I'll probably go again next year. Patti Smith was epic (as was Eric Bibb, Rhiannon Giddens, Rosanne Cash, John Prine, Robert Vincent, Yola Carter, Birds of Chicago and so, so many more)

Glad you enjoyed Patti Smith, Tim. I read the article you linked to and when I got to the para about her performance, I actually got a hairs on the back of the neck standing up moment, as it made me think of the incredible show she put on in Manchester. I have never had that from just the memory of a gig. Wow!

Sounds like a cracking way to spend a long weekend, Tim. Quite possibly one of the best musical performance weekends I've ever had at a festival and I've been to a few over the years. The sound quality in the main stage marquee was off the scale good. Eric Bibb, Rhiannon Giddens and Patti Smith (in that order) on Saturday afternoon/evening were riveting, around 5 hours nailed to one spot and totally mesmerised. I wouldn't like to say which one of those three was at the top, they were all outstanding. Robert Vincent also gave the best ever performance I've seen and I've seen him a lot too. Birds of Chicago knocked me for six, never seen them before. Allison Russell's voice, vocal range and style of delivery was killing me, gut wrenchingly good.
Just so much talent on show, it really was exemplary.
Together with a very relaxed atmosphere, awesome weather, good company and loads of great cheese (maybe a bit too much wine!), there isn't much to complain about really.
I've still got End of the Road, The Long Road and Pilgrimage in Nashville to go yet, but the bar is high for 2018!
