it would be interesting for someone to try the psu with an already super capped seg. Mine is supercapped, see the opening post.

I feel confident it will Stan as you have a great reputation for producing products at reasonable costs and for hitting well above their price point. It has already proved it performance at the ASBO I am also aware that others will be more sceptical until they try for themselves. Indeed John. I remember when I first stated to make available updated firmwares all those years ago that produced an improved audio listening experience. Quite a few people took that suggestion with a pinch of salt since it did not appear to be technically possible to do such a thing via coding alone and without any hardware changes. But other DAC engineers did pay attention to what I was doing and no doubt reverse engineered my firmware code. And since then quite a few DAC manufacturers have been releasing firmware updates for sound improvements.

A follow-up on the pre-production supercap, it's still doing the business and making the SEG sound very good indeed. Tonight I listened to a variety of music, starting off with some female voice and ended up rocking to Yello and turning the wick up. The delights of a detached music room! The SEG has responded very well to three Black Ravioli Pads stuck to the base, and I put the supercap on a big sorbothane foot, too. Previously, the supercap responded well to its wallwart power supply being plugged into clean regenerator power. All in all, this is an amazing upgrade to an already great DAC. I'm hoping my order may arrive before Stan wants his prototype back

Actually, I think that might be it!! I've just sold my original Caiman with Gator add-on board, it was still performing admirably until I replaced it with an SMSL Q5 a couple of weeks ago. I couldn't believe how little you were asking for it. They go for above £100 on ebay due to their rarity value. The SEG version of the TC-7520 Caiman is even harder to find. Only 200 of those were ever made.

Previously, the supercap responded well to its wallwart power supply being plugged into clean regenerator power. The version of the power supply that you got can also be used with a 15V linear power supply, such as the MCRU, Mark Grant, and those $45 Chinese ones. They will charge the Supercap PSU far quicker, and the more expensive ones are also quieter. But we are talking minuscule differences from what I can hear. I was listening of Maty J Blige "Family Affair" and realized that there is a male backing vocal starting at around 1:46s that is barely audible. I hadn't noticed that before.

I might just try that if you think there's any worthwhile improvement.

I'm a bit confused (no surprise there) about the SEG supercap power supply.
Does the power supply need a 15v feed ?
So there are 3 components
A) 15v supply
B) Supercap PSU unit
C) SEG DAC.
A picture (or two) might help an aged enthusiast understand.

Third photo down here shows the small supercap PSU. It is fed by a 15V wall-wart power supply and in turn feeds a SEG (modified for 15V operation). Stan also has a 12V supercap solution for unmodified SEGs. Both are at prototype stage.

So when I get Stan to do the 15v supercap mod on my SEG, I can use my 15v PSU directly to SEG ,OR use it to power the supercap PSU.

A picture (or two) might help an aged enthusiast understand. The samples that are being tested By Martin and Lee are not the finished product. The production item is a bit more advanced in its power supply options. You can use a regulated 12V, 15V, and an unregulated 12V Linear PSU. So those of you who already have a 12 or 15V linear power supply can use my SuperCap energy storage unit with your existing PSU.

But you can use the SEG with a 15V PSU without doing the supercap mod. There is a lot of flexibility possible with the level of mods available.

I have been out of the loop a bit recently due to personal circumstances so have only just had a chance to read through this thread. Great review by Martin, and I was astounded by the difference the power supply made to the SEG at the TASBO, it made a significant audible improvement, and that was through a cobbled together system that none of us knew very well. I for one can't wait until they are in production, and will get the 15V upgrade done to the SEG at the same time too.
P.S. It was really good meeting Stan in person at the TASBO too.

Yes you can use 15V with the SEG even without any mods.

Sorry if I'm repeating what has already been asked (and answered) - does the Supercap PSU sit between my SEG and Longdog Audio 15v LPSU?
Great if it does, as the PSU is a fairly new purchase and I'd like to keep it.

Because of the way that the item is connected up between a mains connected power supply and the SEG, I shall probably have to come up with describing it differently.
