Well, I've been poorly bad for 2 1/2 weeks with a chest infection, which I still can't seem to get rid of. Viewing here for entertainment, the talk of foo & fuses left me a tad... uninterested.
Anyway, my mind drifted to music and my liking of the instrumental. I can't remember for certain, but I think it must have started with Telstar and then The Avengers tv theme.
My first choice isn't from John Barry, Ron Grainer, The Shadows, Stan Getz or any number of others, but is a classic from The Ventures. Not only did they have something of an iconic guitar sound, but also drums as well.
Here they are from 2008 being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame.
Love those tympanies.
And here's the original:
A great-sounding set from 2004. Sadly, Bob Bogel seen here on bass and lead guitar died in 2009 the year following their induction into the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame:

This is the first one that came to mind whilst trying to avoid the obvious choices. Remember the Johnny Walker Show...
And what is possibly my favourite ever guitar instrumental, Sleepwalk. There are so many versions around, from the original by Santo & Johnny, Hank Marvin, Joe Satriani, Brian Setzer, the list goes on. The best modern take on the tune in my own opinion, of course, is by Jeff Beck, because I think it suits his playing style perfectly.
I hope you're feeling better soon.

Well, I'll give you John Barry because he created so many memorable tunes. The Persuaders was one of his best.
