Ive never been a fan of modding. It just ruins the authenticity of kit. I like my hifi to be as close to the way it came out of the factory as I can get. Even the more "kosher" modded stuff isn't for me. For instance, handful of Avondale bits I have tried were worse because they took away the musical essence of Naim and this removed any reason for me owning it.
The mess some people make of modding things is a crime IMO.

I like modded kit but I've only had Chinese amps that benefit from it immensely. I like the individuality it gives equipment as well as the SQ improvements it brings.

Thanks Mike, for what it’s worth I like modded kit, when this hobby started it was a bunch of enthusiasts, experimenting with different components. My first lo fi record player I modded and added a second speaker and a headphone socket. Later I converted it to stereo and built a second amp for the other speaker. I did it to improve the sound, but mainly because it was fun. This led me to work in the industy later in life. |

I was about to moan about how moderation, of the sharp scalpel variety, ruins threads by becoming a fan dance tease. I'd rather the thread was deleted. Then I decided it. I assume this is triggers broom.
Personally I am very happy with all my mods . Which is almost certainly because I didn't make them,but let people who know what they are doing.

My response is similar to the one I give when people ask me why I mod the car. To make it better, of course.
My reasons are to improve the performance, always. Not to bling them up.

Most people I know engineer things to improve or vary performance. You either seem to make wide somewhat meaningless statements, with no particular frame of reference or you are rude. |
