Listening to radio programmes mostly plus various music programmes on BBC 4 and Vintage TV gives a different perspective on music and artists I know well.
Often tracks I know *very* well but presented so differently as the tracks are orphaned from their albums and surrounded by chat and usually history of the tracks or albums. The quality isn't even good EG. Basic Quality on the Tivo but still gives me the push to want to go back to the albums those tracks are on. Almost a craving
Just today Cream - Crossroads Beatles - various particularly Tomorrow never knows Jeff Beck - Thelonius

I find incidental music to TV drama often leads in unexpected directions. TuneFind is invaluable here.

There are artists and albums I have found through watching television programmes and adverts on the TV. Sometimes though, I find once you plug play the same song on your 'proper' system, it doesn't sound quite as good as it did on the TV, maybe it's to do with context, or that the recordings are pants.

I 'use' YouTube quite a lot for deep dives into stuff I've never heard before. It's so easy to start off with a track or artist you know well and then follow their suggestions. Two or three levels of following them and I'm quite often in uncharted territory.

Another to add to my list of discovery tunnels. My list of punters to investigate keeps growing

Listening without knowing who you are listening too is always interesting too.... Sometimes good sometimes very embarrassing Basically, this is my favorite method for listening to and discovering music. I just shuffle a huge spotify playlist all week of 'related artists' finds and other finds. Weeding out what I don't like upon second listen, if something's good enough I add a few more of its tracks to that large playlist. I've purchased, about ten CD's from Amazon and record stores from artists I've found like this. I enjoy not knowing who I'm listening to until the music forces me to find out who this is so I can hear more from that artist.
