People on the internet who need to be contrary. Yes, I know, it goes with the territory.
An example: I announce that I'm having a supercharger installed in my BRZ in the Naturally Aspirated GT86/BRZ Facebook group. You might think that members would be outraged at my going forced induction in a naturally aspirated group. Nope. The overwhelming responses were "should have gone turbo"!
This despite my having already laid out quite clearly my reasoning for going supercharger rather than turbo.

It's a ridiculous state of affairs when people you don't even know seem to think that they "obviously" know better than you, and equally obviously have not read your reasoning in its entirety. Of course, the whole mess need never have happened if, in my (never) humble opinion, you'd been far more sensible and bought a hybrid in the first place. No. Don't bother to argue. You know I won't be listening.

Hah! Been there, done that (my previous car was a Honda CR-Z, a nice little hybrid coupe).

This one winds me up.
Clients who hire outsourcing firms who are Subject Matter Experts in their field and then try to tell them how to do their job and refuse to listen to reason.
What is the point of hiring them in the first place?

I've got a set of Audioquest SureGrip 100 BFA Plugs to replace the "original" plugs. The guy has fitted four right-angled plugs at the amp end, but they're not a matched set despite looking the same externally, and the bananas on the other end are corroded, as you can see from the eBay pic below. The cable itself looks fine and I would set about replacing all the plugs and making good with heatshrink sleeving. Consider it therapeutic Heat shrink and heat gun arriving tomorrow via Amazon. My "bargain" cable is working out to be more expensive than I bargained for.

Hilariously, there is a full turbo versus supercharger argument raging on in the Facebook group. I stepped away some time ago, shaking my head at what I innocently started!

Similarly, inviting me this morning to a demo of an electronic visitor entry system with the throwaway comment "you might need to be there for some IT help". No shit, Sherlock! How's it going to work otherwise?

I may have mentioned this before, because it really used to piss me off: When I was a telephone engineer for the GPO/PO/BT, long before the days of cordless landline phones, friends, relatives, and "that" bloke in the pub would pester me to put them in an extension phone at home, which was, of course, illegal... but that's another story.
Almost without fail they would end up standing over me and at some stage or other utter the phrase "Are you sure you know what you're doing?" This was usually just before they started moaning about the price.
If someone I know gives me the benefit of services that they normally perform professionally, no matter what those services are, and they are saving me money into the bargain, I would never dream of asking them such a rude question unless the house/car/whatever was actually flooded or on fire.

Was it David Bailey who said, I paraphrase "a famous cook said to me that my photos were excellent and that I must have a really good camera. So I replied that her cooking was superb and she must have really good pans".

My speaker cable is looking a bit healthier now. My gears are not grinding (over this) any more.

I was quite pleased with it, for a first attempt. They were even worse than I suspected once I got started. They had the original AudioQuest heat-shrink on, which the previous owner had put more heat-shrink over, which also partly covered the heat-shrink he'd put on the individual bunches of five conductors going in to each plug. I can only assume he used a friggin' blowlamp on the cables as some of the individual conductors (five in hyperlitz config to each plug) had their insulation melted together. This really came in handy... I now need to make up some cables or something, to justify buying the heat gun, except, like most of us I suspect, I've already got far too many cables already.
