On my Honda CRV (2.2 iD-TEC) it seems the EGR pipe has fractured, so it needs sorting.(new pipe approx £250)
I was considering having the ECU upgraded for more torque with an EGR delete at the same time.
It's easy enough to blank off the EGR pipe on the exhaust manifold.
Any pitfall I may not have considered ?

I think EGR delete may fail the MOT but they are very unlikely to notice. That and a remap should give you a lot more grunt, based on a mate who has had previous gen Civic TD remapped.

What age civic is it? I drive a 2.2 CDti. If it's the same engine you need to be carful how far you go with the remapping as the clutch is the weak link in the chain and quite likely to need upgrading to handle the extra torque produced.
The clutch in mine is on about 80,000 miles and if I floor it in wrong gear it will slip a little.

It's a 2010 CRV 2.2 iD-tec and it's an automatic.
Some ECU upgraders limit the torque upgrade to 300 ft/lbs because of the clutch issue.
The company I'm thinking of using have specified max torque at 420 Nm ( 310 ft/lbs )

Sounds good, the 2.2 is a great engine.

Very torquey! Only 280nm maximum from mine - then again it's a petrol boxer and revs to 7600rpm.

Give the guys at car tuning clinic a call pre65. Might not be local to you but they're very knowledgable and helpful. Perfect folk to answer your questions. They've done remaps for me. www.cartuningclinic.com/

Yep, my previous BMW 335d remapped to 700nm torque - that was a tyre shredder. However, diesels have a much narrower power band. The BRZ just pulls and pulls to the high red line and is faster due to 300bhp and a very light 1.2 tonnes.

From one interesting car to another (and you don't usually hear me say that about a Vauxhall)

From one interesting car to another (and you don't usually hear me say that about a Vauxhall) I know - both go against the grain where Vauxhall are concerned. I've had a VX220 before, and knew I needed to get back in one sooner rather than later. Light, agile and sticky as a sticky thing, I can't imagine much will be near it in a corner, save a Caterfield type car

If my lightweight BRZ responds well to supercharging, I can only imagine what an ultra lightweight VX220 is like with boosting. Similarly with cornering, I leave most hot hatches behind but yours must be a go-kart.

Chassis was CRAPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP, engine was smile inducing though
Though it was as reliable as Jeremy Corbyn in a synagogue portraying the benefits of the Isington intelligentsia Labour party manifesto on antisemitism

Be interested to know what Saab did with it for the 9-3 and 9-5
The boss's 9-5 seems good to me

I understand that they made such wide-ranging changes to it that it brought about the downfall of Saab due to the cost. GM were not impressed (but should have designed a better car).
