On the occasions when I have been somewhere where a music collection has been played on random shuffle, I've always noticed similarities or connections between subsequent tracks - maybe two or three songs in a row with a common word in the title, or a run of four of five acoustic tracks etc. I start looking for connections and that severely distracts me from enjoying the music, but it's a good topic of conversation at a social gathering!
The thought goes through my mind about whether the track selection is being driven by some clever/evil algorithm or other, but I think it's just a function of the human brain being conditioned to look for connections.
