It took me about 30 years to find a copy of McCabe's Symphony No. 1 conducted by himself, but I finally got one last year and it's every bit as good as I had expected.
Since then, it's been released on Naxos CD. However, careful listening reveals it to be a transcript from vinyl!

Emmylou Harris - Gliding Bird. I spent many years trying to find out if this album was ever actually released, let alone available. Eventually I walked into James Asman's record shop in Cannon Street one afternoon in 1977 and got a big beaming smile from 'Clip' the guy who ran it. Not only had he tracked a copy down for me it was a white label promo/D.J. copy from the U.S. About a fortnight after that it was re-released on Pye as "The Legendary 'Gliding Bird' Album" for £0.99 I think it was.

It took me a good number of years to find a mint copy of the Sheffield Lab direct cut of Thelma Houston and Pressure Cooker. Then I found another Sheffield Lab of James Newton Howard and Friends, and it's even better.

Whoops sorry just realised it was a vinyl thread Don't worry - the first releas vinyl cut is the best I've heard. It was done by George Peckham (Porky).

For me getting hold of a Porky cut is gratifying. I picked up a copy of Genesis Live (the 1973 album) just last week, and that has Porky in the deadwax. It sounds great.

I have one of these too. UK Original Zippo - ILPS 9241. Both cover and vinyl in fab near mint order. Couldnt believe it when I nailed it at £112. Been a massive Marley fan from day one, my all time #1 musical hero - period. The only thing I dont have and would like for it is the original baby blu insert (the vinyl sits in a MOFI anti static sleeve, cut to size) . I'd like to get hold of the original insert though one day, even if I have to buy a knackered original for it .

I'm not familiar with those. Discogs is a good place to dig around - lots of information there.

The blue one I don't know about ? I have a very good friend who has the ' Pendle Home Entertainment' record shop in Colne. He let me have it for what he had to pay . So I got this one for £100. Anyway. ..we must chat. Is there an appropriate thread ?
