Even S.M.S.L.'s presentation belies the bargain price, doesn't it?

Absolutely! The poor little thing is rather cold from its trip so letting it acclimatise right now ...

Sick. Gosh. You young people and the way you subvert the English language. Non sum confusus. ( Spoken whilst wearing a Jacob Rees Mogg mask)

Is propa sick fam Ok then ... Set up with the Mac Mini was a breeze. Connected a usb cable from the mac to provide power. Then a toslink to mini toslink cable which goes into the mac's headphone socket which doubles as the digital output. After turning on the M3, the mac immediately recognises the make and model - very cool. Fired up a bit of Ozzy first of all from youtube in 'HD' quality. The improvement is immediate and significant compared to plugging phones straight into the mac. The music has much more air and separation; it's also superbly dynamic. I only have the free spotify so don't get the higher quality tracks - I found that hd youtube sounds better. So SMSL hit it out of the park again. Rest assured that if you want a budget headphone set-up, the M3 + Superlux cans is masses of fun.

Jules, how does the Toslink sound compare with just using USB to feed from the Mac?

Hadn't thought of trying Martin! Do you think it is worth a go?

Try it, Jules. I have always found the toslink connection on my Mac’s to be far superior to USB.

The Q5 Pro is now connected to the TV via optical cable. Sound has more clarity on digital - will actually take a bit of getting used to! I found a big improvement by jacking up the treble and bass as before. Might still need a little tweak.
The biggest benefit is not getting any thumps on the speakers when adverts start and finish when streaming on Freeview Play. Was just so annoying, especially late at night.
The unit itself is reassuringly weighty and well built. My only complaint is the horrible remote control - changing volume is surprisingly fiddly with the circular controller.

As much as I love the Q5 pro, I hate the remote control that comes with it.
Very fiddly and unreliable, been driving us mad. And what a faff to get the battery cover out!! I've already broken off one bit of this.
I notice the new remotes have been re-designed and use AAA batteries, looks much better. New remotes available from aliexpress if you need one.

Just finished 'restoring' the lid on my Source tt. I used K2 pro lamp doctor which only costs around £3 and am very pleased with the results after just a few minutes work. Got a lovely transparency to the lid now.

Thank you so bloody much, Jules. I'm sure Aliexpress never used to accept PayPal, and now they do, and they have some really nice-looking low-priced guitars. Remote ordered (£5.69 plus a 10% surcharge for some reason, so actually £6.26) and due to arrive in 20 to 40 days.
