My Source turntable has a grey Nextel top plate which has proved very frustrating to clean properly.
I've used a small amount of isopropryl alcohol or meths on a cloth - I can't work out whether this is actually getting dirt off or whether it is actually dissolving the top layer of the Nextel! So I've used it pretty sparingly.
I'm left with a fairly streaky finish which is a bit frustrating as I can get the woodwork and the bronze looking superb after a good clean.
Does anyone have any tips for cleaning and getting an even finish to the Nextel or is it just mission impossible?

I can think of cleaners but would be worried they would strip more off....

I had a Systemdek with Nextel that had gone sticky. It came up pretty good with Maplin foaming cleanser. It won't break the bank to try it. If it doesn't work, I'd be inclined to agree with Andr'e. It's pretty horrible stuff and I'm sure you could find nicer and more practical finishes.

Paint finishes are very advanced these days. Id find a professional company to do it, they will find a finish that looks the same if that what you want.

Thanks for the advice gents ... I'll try the Maplins gear first - is this the one to get? www.maplin.co.uk/p/maplin-antistatic-foam-cleaner-400ml-n65anPart of me would like to change it for something more practical but I am also fighting a terrible urge to keep it original if possible. You have got me thinking though!
