After a long struggle trying to figure out why my Raspberry would not connect via wifi (fine over ethernet) it was finally found to be a faulty router. It's been replaced and now I have a connection ! But not a very stable one it seems.
My music is served up from a Vortexbox running LMS and the Pi3 is running Picoreplayer, controlled by Squeezepad on my Ipad.
But every few seconds / minutes the Pi is just lost from the IPads list of available players and the music stops. I query the available player list on Squeezepad a few tiles and the conection returns - only to disappear again shortly afterwards. It's unlistenable.
I get a 70mb internet service although speeds reduce drastically around the house to single figures on mobile devices (and the upload speed is usually faster than the download speed on them !) which I cannot figure out. I've tried moving the router as much as I can to no avail.
Now, I heard there might be a setting in the Raspberry about switching off power conservation and this could have a beneficial effect (the Pi has a 2amp. 5v supply). But this is where my knowledge is very weak - how do I make such a change ?
I have my Pi's IP address and on entering that in my browser search bar I immediately reach the PiCoreplayer GUI interface. But how do I login to the Pi itself ?
I use a Mac running Terminal and have tried;
ssh pi@192.168.1.nnn
That asks me for a password but 'raspberry' does not work. There is no 'login' prompt.
Do I need something other than Terminal ? I know little of command line stuff and get exasperated when everyone talsk about sudo this and nano that. I can't even get to the command line !
Can anyone point me in the right direction ?
Thanks
