Playlists? Ah well, I wouldn't know about that, as I just select an album and play it.

I downloaded it out of interest but haven't bothered to burn it to an SD card. The lack of setup or configuration notes struck me as a downside

Well, that has to be the easiest installation ever. Blast the new image onto SD card, fire it up. My browser found it immediately. Configure for HiFiBerry Digi+ and restart. Add the Spotify plug-in and login. Played a song first time and it sounds superb. It also plays my Spotify playlists fine. Love the cover artwork and general look of it.
Volumio 2 is excellent - fantastic bit of software!

Has anyone done any direct comparisons yet? Volumio 2 sounds better to my ears, just subtly.

Had to roll back to Volumio 1.55 Could not get the Wi-Fi dongle to work (not one blink) on Volumio 2. A fiddley product, but when it plays it is very nice. Thanks to MartinT for the nice set-up guide.

I did a Check Updates this morning, and for the first time ever Volumio actually picked up an update to v0.979.

Volumio V2.001 is available. It updates via the menu option in System. I've not played any music yet but I have verified that it now saves the playback options across restarts.

I tried it and couldn't even access the web page to set it up, I could SSH into it but no matter what I tried I couldn't access it either on my PC or on my smartphone. Gave up went back to MoOde.

Did you try volumeio.local? On Android you have to use the ip address.

Get the IP address from your router, then go to e.g.
http://192.168.1.80
Or otherwise try
http://volumio.local
(watch spelling) in the address bar.

Yeah did both and no joy with either, I see some people on another forum have issues with it as well, I was only trying to to see if I could use it with an Allo.com Sparky (RPi Clone) setup but gave up and have now used the parts for that system on my RPi setup with MoOde.
Not fussed about trying again but thanks for the help

I was always a fan of Volumio even though I have dabbled with Moode and Rune.
However, I have a Pi3 + sabre DAC + Audiophonics OLED screen and power management button.
All the 3 players will work but, at present, I can only get Rune to work with all the features (above).
There are sites on the Audiophonics forum which allow one to download modified scripts so that the screen etc works; does anyone know whether Vol2 works natively with my stuff AND allows the PW and screen to work?
Thanks,
Richard.

I performed the Volumio update within the System options and all is well. Still working nicely.

When I select to update nothing seems to happen. How do you know it's been completed? Mine still says v0.928 june 2016.

It gives a progress bar which takes a long time to complete and the system version is then v2.something.
Is your Pi definitely connected to the internet?

To answer my own question (above. theaudiostandard.net/post/75791)No Volumio does not support the OLED screen and power management button when using the Audiophonics Sabre DAC and screen. Best wishes, Bonky.
