Are they any good then, these reissues?

I wonder how different they are from the selected vinyl remasters of a few years ago?
I think the EMI SACD of Dark Side... is the ultimate mastering and don't need any more, similarly the excellent reissue of Wish...
What I would like is a really well reworked issue of Animals. Preferably on SACD, but vinyl would be fine.

I've always thought Animals was a bit turgid. Maybe I have only heard it on knackered vinyl copies but it always seemed like the music was never able to really shine.

Yes, I think that's it, Chris. The recordings sound busy and lacking in dynamics.
However, listen to a track like Dogs and it's as good as anything they ever created.

Now that I think of it, I would love a good mastering of A Saucerful of Secrets.

The Hoffman forum seems to think that these will be from the 2011 remasters. Do you know any different, Andr'e?

Best place to find Atom Heart Mother seems to be BBC6 when they play it. Don't think there was ever an official release

I tried More because my early pressing is noisy and so so sound. A definite improvement. Hoffmanites have given the thumbs up to Piper and Saucer Full of Secrets as well. It appears that the same digital transfers have been used as for 2011 but the vinyl is a new remastering by Bernie Grundman. It's possible that further work has been done with the files as some remixing was done for 2011 titles. So hopeful that DSOTM, WYWH and The Wall vinyl editions will improve on the 2011 versions.

I noticed the First three have Columbia looking labels but the Ummagumma has a modern design Label? This alone hacks me off beyond belief. Take the recent King Crimson Re-Issues, the labels bear a resemblance to the old Pink Islands. This is good but a design that is new/modern really put me off big style.

Ok since i have stopped belly aching about these i decided to buy one of the new 2016 CD issues, Choice being 'Relics' this has the original cover artwork from when the Vinyl was first issued. Ive only ever known this album be on CD years ago but had a new design photo cover.. Any hoots to cut a long story short these new releases are a zillion times better, package wise than the Discovery editions imho.. Im just waiting on to see if Japanese Edition surface before i buy them all.

I have lots of remaster/reissue Pink Floyd CD's - in most cases I prefer the originals..
