I'll reply more fully later but there was a new UK built idler deck being demonstrated at the NW show at the weekend. It looked to be beautifully built in the shiny skeletal style.

I must say the Elac looks nice. The Pro-Ject Classic looks far too much like a Linn.

That's the one - my camera packed up in the morning, so no photo from me. But here's the Thorens <errrr> Linn <ummm> Project again

It was the hinges that made me realise it wasn't a Linn/Thorens

Not quite so new I don't think, but here's the Sparkletastic unipivot on the Pro-ject Signature 10 (I think that was the model) that was in the same room.

I like the Project Classic, but that's predictable

I like the Elac because it's compact. Reminds me of the VPI Scout.

Don't like that one, too industrial looking and the motor pulley and switch really spoil it, the blingy font writing ruins it totally from a visual aspect for me. If they got rid of those, I agree it would look good, but like that, nope. Don't like the ELAC logo on the front either.

I am with you Tim, but more so - there's nothing I like about the Elac. It may sound fantastic though....

Take a look at the models from Iota Design.
Does anyone remember Chantry Audio in Nottinghamshire? These are designed by Nigel, the ex-owner and Mark Hudson from Lincoln. I remember the balanced phono stage that they made under the name HiQ Sound and also QT. There are some interesting ideas in these turntables and also the arm.

Aye Just going off Turntables a sec. Chris do you remember Lynwood Electronics . Probably known mostly for the 'Emerald' Amplifier. They were 5 mins from us in Wentworth [Next Village]. Coley lane Farm?
