Despite having a large record collection, I have found myself playing CDs more and more in recent years. This is because a) I buy a lot more CDs now, b) I find CD replay to equal vinyl replay in my system and c) they are more convenient to browse through.

Preferred is still records - just because I like the whole ritual of digging out a record, taking from the sleeve etc.

I prefer CDs most of the time.
If I could be bothered to set up a proper music computer and rip my CDs to it then I might (just might) use my streaming capabilities more.
Every now and then I have a vinyl session, and thoroughly enjoy it, but as nice as it is , my vinyl reproduction system is not quite as good as I would like. This is mainly due to the cost of a better arm , cartridge and phono stage.

FBA by a long way and not a ripped disc in sight
CD next, closely followed by vinyl

My preferred source is not the one used most often. My FBA/streaming setup sees the most use, but I grew up on LP records, and it's those I prefer.

Records for sound and the whole hands on element. Add to that artwork I can read. You also get twice as much exercise with an LP than CD or 3 times with a double LP (getting out of your chair) .

CDs as they are easier than LPs and sound much the same on my system.
Don't have a file system so that can't count
Have reel to reel that I haven't used much at all recently

I'm where the future lies, file based audio - I still have records, but they are really just keep sakes, my music comes from a hard drive and I don't care what anyone says, based on pure value of sound per pound it cannot (at the moment) be beaten. I love the romantic notion of records, but clicks and pops do my head in.

Gosh, I'm going to be awkward! My preferred source is the one which I have the appropriate recording on. Generally speaking, I don't care what the format is as long as I can hear what I want to hear. If I want to buy a particular album nowadays it's usually a CD because of the problems I've had with poor quality control on new records. I buy a lot of used stuff opportunistically too though and I always browse through both records and CDs if they're available.

File based streaming for me, followed shortly behind by CD. If I had a record player though it'd be a close race as I still generally prefer the sound of Vinyl.

Vinyl. I haven't bought a cd in many years and only have a player to very occasionally play my and the mrs's old cd's ... What about Classical Jules, I couldn't cope listening to that with any surface noise, esprcially quiet passages, or don't you mind that?

Coo - I'm amazed I'm the only internet streamer so far. Unimaginably vast music catalogue just a click or three away. Great sound quality. For me there's no competition at all from CDs or LPs when it comes to settling down for a listen. But then I do like to explore new things - be they kit as a box swapper or music as a ... errr, music swapper? Funny old world, innit.

I count Spotify and streaming from the net the same as file based audio Jerry, not my number one source, but it does feature an awful lot. Not do much here as my broadband speed is atrocious, but in the UK I would use it daily.
