Paul (pjdowns) came to visit bringing a pile of his CDs and I regaled him with a selection of mine.
Track selecting at will from various. Usually just long enough for either of us to say
"Yes, want that one"
Stretching the system with the Auram speakers in place and surprisingly every album sounded well made, surprising and great news
Starting with Jerry Goodman - It's alive Pilote - Do it now man
From Paul Nitin Sawhney - Beyond skin Django Django - Django Django AwolNation - Megalithic Symphony James Tayloer - October Road Peter Gabriel - Up Acoustic Alchemy - best of Flaming lips - Yoshimi battles the pink robots Antonio Forcione - Touch wood London Grammar - If you wait (did I miss any Paul ?)
These were either new to me or much better than I thought they would be
Some purchases to be made
From me Rainer and Das Combo - Texas Tapes Terry Evans - Blues for thought - with the staggering Get your lies straight and Ry Cooder doing wonderful things Captain Sensible - Revolution Now Ry Cooder - End of Violence Joe Satriani - Flying in a blue dream Joe Satriani -Extremist Paul Murphy - Cascade
and that took up a very enjoyable afternoon
More of this soon

Hi Mike, Yes that is about it, only missed off a few; Eric Clapton - Reptile Gotan Project - Gotan Project - you already had this. Rodrigo y Gabriela - you weren't so impressed with this one. It was a great afternoon's enjoyment, as stated at the time, your system is sounding rather marvellous and I came away suitably jealous Look forward to doing it again soon. Paul. P.S. next time I will convince your wife to let me have a go on the mower, hehe

Will bring some bits when I come over I'll book an appointment with the boss for the mower !

To be fair I like the first track on the Rodrigo y Gabriela album a lot as a 'Demo' track but the rest are all a bit samey... I am sure other people know this but the first track is used on one of the episodes on Breaking Bad....

Are you tempted to buy the Aurums then Mike?

Tempted yes.
Need some more testing. I've got used to them now and have set up for some easy comparisons. Tony is over on Thursday to tweak the system further

How do the Aurums move things on from where the system was before? And is there anywhere that they miss out?

Need to play more to be able to articulate.
Roughly, as I see it now, forward midrange, different bass, perhaps deeper, maybe more detail. There seems to be something different I can't quite verablise yet

That's as good a reason as any to play more music! Have you gone back to the Linns yet to see the difference?

That's good, Mike. I would have expected the midrange to make the biggest improvement. Those KEF B110s are quite an old design by modern standards, good as they were then.

Longer session last night. They are perhaps better, but my ears may need a reboot. More in the original thread
