...Disco is the first part of a music series on Sky Arts HD. I'm no disco fan but this is a fascinating documentary, narrated by Noddy Holder, and has taught me a lot of what you need to know to understand the genre. I'm looking forward to the next parts.

The Progressive Rock one was really excellent, with clips from many of the great acts including Billy Ritchie, who arguably started the heightened status of keyboards in prog. Rick Wakeman, as always, spoke openly and honestly about the highs and lows of prog. He talked about the great stir that the Moog and then Mini Moog caused in prog. He reiterated that it wasn't so much punk that killed prog as that prog killed itself. When I was at Uni from 1977 and punk was in the ascendency, I remember being a one-man hater who preferred listening to Genesis, Yes and ELP any day. Looking back, it's clear to see that prog had far greater influence on later music than punk. Muse was mentioned, I would also add Stephen Wilson.
I'm going to research Ritchie, 1-2-3 and Clouds some more.
