There is only one real true album that captures the essence of a ban playing live

My first live love was this one... Just wonderful I saw them live at that time. Stunning. Just so so good The only bad thing is the stupid cover with naff front and awful LP holders

That's right. The L.P. holders had that nasty strip of foam along the edge that felt like steel-wool and was supposed to clean the album every time you took it out. David "Clem" Clempson was a very underrated guitarist, almost unknown really. I've got him on the Bakerloo album too.

The record sleeve of the future <cough>
I thought many times about buying Bakerloo Didn't quite persuade myself.
Clem was great as was everyone in the band.
I thought they'd blown it when they took Chris Farlowe on - I was wrong !

I'm nominating two exceptional live recordings, in both cases just on standard CD. These two feature great music and just get better the better your system. Hugh Masakela - HopeEric Clapton - Unplugged

One of my favourites: Though interestingly the tracks are constructed from lots and lots of individual performances of the songs, with the best segments from each pieced together to make apparently continuous live performances - really well done, Rothschild.

Nils Lofgren Live would have to be in the list. I rather like Jackson Browne Solo Acoustic. Some complain about the chat between songs but that's what makes it an event for me.

I agree with the JB solo acoustic album and would add Vol. 2. Wishbone Ash - 'Live Dates 2' - every track is better than the original! Little Feat - 'Waiting for Columbus' The Kinks - 'One for the Road' Lynyrd Skynyrd - 'One More From the Road' BB King - 'Live at the Regal'
