Martin, you should pull that old Strathclyde deck of yours out of mothballs and give it another spin, it might be interesting to revisit it. Not that I think it will oust your current deck, but sometimes it's good to get some perspective - you know, compare how you've actually come as compared to how far you think you've come. It might surprise you!

Trouble is, I have no arm for it any more. If I see something inexpensive come along, I might buy one and make it whole again.

Here is a teaser of my Art Audio Composer-Solo, with a matching SME IV.V, that is it's configured as supplied to Sumiko in the USA. It's a IV with the V's bearings, damper and wiring. The cartridge is my Koetsu Rosewood Platinum Signature.

It's a IV with the V's bearings, damper and wiring. That's interesting - what's left that identifies it as a IV (apart from the colour)?

I think they did a 3/4/5 as well, did they not? Great photo Paul!

It's a IV with the V's bearings, damper and wiring. That's interesting - what's left that identifies it as a IV (apart from the colour)? It's static balance rather than spring loaded. I've always felt Koetsus work better in these, as did Sugano-San

Interesting. I can do either on the Dynavector. I use the spring loaded setting, but can zero it and apply static tracking weight instead.
