Nightwatchman signed on with thoughts of new speakers and I've just had the pleasure to build him a handsome pair of Frugel3 with bells on. I didn't take many photos as he has that professionally well covered and will post himself, but I did like this one from an iPhone 4

Actually, a super tweeter. The other one's at the back...
At the moment I'm making the first of a new design, also by Scott Lingren, to do some things I can't do with the Frugel design. I offered some applicable developments of this project to be used. The FR driver is the latest from Mark Audio, the Pluvia 7 and I'm augmenting that with matched Heil type STs.

I'm augmenting that with matched Heil type STs That's going to give them some air and space.

Looking good! I can't wait for the retrofit mod. Cheers. I'll get right on it... These are built into the cabinet of course but it is my intention to construct an add-on version. Actually the effect of these is counter intuitive; the top end becomes more refined and smooth, the bass and midrange gain detail and everything starts and stops on a sixpence. Both the Alpair 7 and the Pluvia 7 drivers have extended HF and aren't looking for help. The negative is that I have a dog who likes to sing along with certain songs. Now he wants to sing to everything, even the TV theme tunes.

Very nice Steve . The Frugals are already excellent speakers , if this adds to the SQ then they must be very good indeed . Are you planning to make a seperately boxed super tweeter for the Frugals already out there ?

I will make up some arrangement that can be added as an upgrade for existing customers, but obviously these are fitted as part of construction, with the second one being inside the cabinet... I had only intended to offer this configuration for this pair - primarily it is for a different new speaker, similar in size to the Frugels but with a forward facing horn mouth and different loading that gives the option of a second full range driver that can be mounted either on top, at the side or at the back as a dipole. These will have the twin STs and a little higher sensitivity. Hope to have first photos in about a week
