Hi Folks,
For some time now I have been considering a revolutionary design (excuse the pun) for a plutonium motor Direct Drive Turn Table that absolutely totally eliminates the problems with electrical drive, wiring, noise and vibration.
The original work in this area was done by Daehkcid and Spohcrebols et al. of UNP and described in a paper by them in 1967. I have expanded on this work to enable energy to be extracted from the interaction thus described and be applied to directly turn the ETP Platter via interactive rotationalisers embedded in it’s periphery and orientated towards the optimization of the B phase radiation decay cycle. The use of a plutonium motor has many advantages in terms of it’s total lack of electrical interference and reciprocity resonance. Also being totally poleless it exhibits zero cogging during the excitation phase.
But more importantly when synchronized to a simple ceasium clock, I have calculated that it can provide instantaneous speed stability of the order of 0.0000614% total variation, when measured at NTP. This should be acceptable to most people.
Wow and flutter would obviously be something like 6.74x10-8
calculated on the average re-insertion factor at the higher frequencies of replay.
I have however made no allowance for the quantum effect of the interactivity with the plutonium exponential decay.
Braking would be effected by mechanical means. As to reverse the plutonium reaction could provide some rather difficult problems!!
The energy source is estimated to last for about 3,578 years if used on a continuous daily basis of 14.7 hours, this should be sufficient for normal usage.
Some of my collaborators have argued that the low power available, of about 1,356 watts, will not be sufficient for those of a more critical nature, this remains to be decided.
The brilliance of the compact design is that the
E T P Platter does not require a conventional bearing, being supported by a layer of heavy water, which is also used as the moderator. (supplied in a separate canister). The heavy water being thicker allows the platter to float at minimum depth. However accurate leveling is required.
This water will be cooled by a Peltier Effect heat pump driven by the Plutonium motor. Rotational concentricity will be effected by self compensating Electro Hydrodynamic Auto Correction, and thus also allowing for the radial forces of the cartridge.
In keeping with the specifications of this Turn Table, an ultra
linear cartridge is offered. This incorporates a Neodymium/Polonium magnet and uses quantum-logic channeling excitation to split a laser into 2 beams, thus providing total channel separation and offering a theoretical frequency response from DC to 187.5Khz. The cartridge is carried on a zero friction top pivoted trapezoidal support, which allows it to hover over the track with zero tracking error. Thus dispensing with the traditional tone arm.
This state-of-the-art Turn Table will be available in a short while after I have resolved a few production problems.
Sourcing of the required plutonium pellets to power the motor should not present any difficulty. Most countries which have active nuclear development programs should be able to provide limited supplies at reasonable prices.
