It is much more laid back here, without any of the nastiness that plagues other forums. Most forums seem to have an individual (or a small number of individuals) that just spoil the whole thing for everyone else, and the only reason you can justify their presence there is to stir things up. There's also a few forums that are hunting grounds for some retailers/distributors who seem to try and take over the forum and treat it as their own, which spoils things in my opinion. Quite true......these have been my findings too. As I've said before, this place seems laid back and any disagreements are good natured. There is nothing worse than making an unpopular comment and the Stasi paying you a visit in the night!

I spend a lot of time on forums because I enjoy having my self-esteem, musical taste and hi-fi choices torn to shreds by narrow-minded bullies on a regular basis !

I don't spend too much time on other audio forums. There are some which I really like, but for whatever reason don't find myself visiting so much - Tapeheads and Audiokarma fall into this category (I love the picture threads) - and others which, though they sometimes house interesting or useful discussions, have such a toxic atmosphere that they simply aren't for me. TAS seemed to be - at least in part - a response to that, so I showed my support by joining. I enjoy seeing what others are up to with their systems, and what they're listening to on them. I don't have any expertise on the gear side of things, so don't really contribute much to those discussions, though I'll happily share my own experience if I think it's relevant (which isn't very often). Mostly though I'm interested in music, and like being pointed towards new things. Hifi forums really are strange beasts - markedly different from any other hobbyist forums that I use. I like this place though

I also started on PFM and the Wam, great forums, but I soon moved on due to all the fighting and willy waggling. Hifi forums are great as it brings people with the same passion together, my wife can't stand Hifi, and is not even a huge music lover. Hifi forums has been a bit of a journey, as they have given me plenty of tips and pointers which has enabled me to,build the Hifi I have today,

I am on 4 x forums and like to think I can help with problems, advise and correct any factual mistakes or misinformation.
I have watched this forum for a while because I wanted to make sure it wasn't aggressive and nasty as some are. Life is too short for arguing.

There is no requirement to argue with people if they appear to be argumentative or provokative. Simply ignore them with some they get the message others have to have an explicit statement. I usually leave things a while before replying or making some response. The other forums, other than AoS, have good people and useful knowledge. Sometimes it is possible to offer something.

I think some of the advice on dealing with toddlers' tantrums comes in handy when you've got an overly argumentative forum member...
It's not just me who sees the parallels is it? P.S. I shall now expect to see "ooh look, there’s a ladybird!’" as a catchphrase to be used by Admins when someone is having a tantrum?

If you want an image of ANYTHING, try Google image. PS Ignoring people who annoy you does work.

Yes, it does.
I've sometimes composed a reply to a knobhead only later to delete it, having got it off my chest but considering the recipient to be not worth the bother.
