Flawed logic - I bought the soundtrack to Jim Jarmusch's, 'Dead Man' and I think it's poo.

The Thing has a great soundtrack. The Thing has a great "original" soundtrack, yes - who the hell is Gareth Williams?!! I was listening to The Thing soundtrack a few days ago coincidentally. I don't think everyone knows just how many layers there are to the track, but then the same can be said of Halloween. Listen to them on a good system and there's so much going on, despite sounding initially simplistic (much like Boards Of Canada).

My favourite soundtrack is 'Crash', however I cannot listen to it without crying.

Always enjoyed Giorgio Moroder's soundtrack to Midnight Express. Strangely, I've never seen the movie.

Most notable recently of the many soundtrack albums bought I was punting around for what Zane Lowe did with his version of Drive
Interested enough to look on Ebay and up came one entry of the original Drive soundtrack with 9 others. Snapped up for not a lot. Two I already had and 2 not great but stunners in the rest Lars and the Real Girl Fight Club Take Shelter Tron Legacy Meet Joe Black Eternal Sunshine of the spotless mind The Life Aquatic Ma Fleur by Cinematic Orchestra not a soundtrack. Now spare as I already have this wonderful album The Last of Us - Gustavo Santaolalla - for a game ! Great album and another of my spares now.

Great surprise to find I love Tron Legacy Give it a go at nice volume. (Speaking only on the intro) Very well made orchestral Why the surprise ? Never been impressed with Daft Punk. Didn't stand out when I saw the film Classical bent. Yes I know its not classical julesd68 and jandl100You may both like it

I gave this a go but could only get as far as track 4 whilst making my coffee. Daft Punk are ok doing their usual thang but I found it very generic soundtrack fare. I was expecting more 'orchestral' not just a few string samples on their computers. Couldn't play it loud though for the full FX.

Does it have a cello? If so, it must be classical. I'll have a listen.

Hey, yeah, I really enjoyed the overture sequence. First star trek, then lord of the rings soundtracks came to mind. To start with I kept expecting a voice to come in... "These are the voyages of the Starship Enterprise.... ". The final frontier.
And the voice in the 2nd track "The grid, a digital frontier..." So yes a definite Star Trek knockoff, I reckon.
Definitely (synthesised) cellos in there somewhere.

Think you need to be well past track 4 for the full effects Usual Daft Punk fare leaves me cold

Not a soundtrack in the true sense, but don't let that stop you. It's a cracker!

There is of course the actual soundtrack.
And it's got the best ever soundtrack sleeve:
