The true music lovers OCD test: Do you keep (within your alphabetically ordered filing system) all of each artist's recordings in chronological order of release? I used to do that but not any more.

I have a couple thousand 12" singles but they are only from a handful of different Record Labels [Complete sets are another illness with me]. They are filed as the Record label but each have a number on the protective polysleeve. I just look the number up on a list which tells me what the 12" it is & where.. Dont have a problem with CDee's cos they are boxed up, transfered to lossless files. Eventually all my 12" singles will also be files..

No, I don't either. Sometimes I rearrange them within the same performer to get awkward doubles and card sleeves to best fit.

Yes, I do. Only for LPs though.....not bothered about CDs I also make sure that multiple discs are in their sleeve in the right order, and everything album has a protective outer plastic sleeve.

I like the door set just slightly open, the light low and everything tidy. TV off - always! Then I can just fall happily into the music.

I'm not too OCD, my listening room isn't always clean and tidy as it's also my office which is used by others but generally it's not bad . I mainly have the room pitch black or sometimes just very dimly lit , with a drink of some sort close by. As my listening room is a detached building in my garden, I always keep the front door locked as a few years ago my wife had a habit of creeping in, when I was immersed in the music and the room was pitch black, and making me jump out of my skin !!!!! Which I really didn't find very funny but she thought it was hilarious .

The music is creepy and unsettling enough, you would jump right out of your skin if someone did that to you

Yes I do, pretty easy with JRiver and an excel spreadsheet - but don't ever ask me where the actual CD is, could take awhile

I like her to keep the entire home neat and tidy. This does not work in my house I put stuff just 'there' Hey where did it go ? Ah it's been tidied away, often not logically to me I often put stuff 'there' to remind me to do 'that' 'That' doesn't get done 'cos my reminder is not there Walking past 'it' multiple times and not seeing 'it' doesn't count of course

Yep that'd be me, but I again do it primarily to help find albums quickly. When you've got a smallish collection, say up to 100 albums it's less of an issue but once you've amassed a larger collection it's a must IMO.

Alphabetical order is a must, I agree and I've always done that, but chronologically is a step too far for me now, I'm afraid.

What's all this with TVs in listening rooms?
Heresy.
