I'm not exactly sure which came first but it was either See My baby Jive - Wizzard or Break the Rules - Status Quo. Around 1973.

Not sure I could work it out. I bought LPs for a while before I bought singles........
There was a lot going on around 1963 and 64 and I have a lot of singles, most bought later on as ex jukebox records

I still have my copy of Black Night. Apart from speculative buying to move on quickly for a profit (a load of very early Tamla Motown discs for eg), I've only ever bought about 15 singles in my entire life and all of them long after their release.

I have few 7" singles (maybe about 20) but more 12" ones.

Not something I'm proud of, but it was Star Man by Bowie. I was only a kid so I have an excuse

My first proper vinyl single was hit with your rhythm stick by The bard of burmondsy himself in 1979
Most of my music was on reel to reel before that period

I started buying albums when I was just turned 12, so singles didn't really get a look in. I did buy Bohemian Rhapsody when it came out, but sold it on when the album was released.

How ridiculous; I've got probably a couple of thousand (including 10 inchers, 12 inchers, picture discs etc.) but I can't for the life of me remember the first one I bought. Best guess? Tears in the Wind by Chicken Shack.

A Hard Day's Night, which I got with birthday money 2'6 (12.5p) when I was 7. Still remember the attack of the opening chord played on me mother's Ferguson radiogram. Yet to hear it reproduced the same with any modern gear I've tried.
Some point later I sanded off the B Side " Things We Said Today" trying to cut my own vocals with a diy cutting head. Needless to say it was a complete disaster.
This was 1964.
