I am in the market for some loudspeakers. Do you have speakers you are delighted with? If so please recommend them to me along with their strengths and weaknesses.
I currently have a shortlist I am thinking about, it is as follows:- Ruark Prologue Two Spender D7 Sony SS-F6000 Hitachi Towers Monitor Audio Silver 10

What's your budget, Box? New or used?

There's a wildly wide price range embodied in that list!
Your question is one that begs a lot more questions from us before we can properly help you, I think. Apart from Martin's two questions, there are these:
What will you be using them with? From your list,it seems that you want some narrow floor standers. Is there a reason for ruling out other types of speaker or is it just a coincidence? What size room will you be using them in?
If you give us a bit more to work with, I am sure we can help you.

Also, what specific model are the Hitachi towers you refer to? If I Google 'Hitachi Tower', all I get are references to a building in Singapore! I would be surprised if there are many speaker designs from Hitachi that would compare favourably with a few of the others in your list.

Have you never asked the same question of two different groups of people Kevin? Retorical question, let's not sidetrack the thread.

MBL 116F - I have had mine for over 5 years, they're rather good.
Pros and cons... Hard to fault sonically but quite expensive.

The Fugel 3 are amazing speakers for the money. Very clean detailed sound with surprising bass for their size. Everyone who got the Electricbeach model is a very happy customer and everyone who has heard them really likes them. The finish is very good and hand built The real bonus is they not expensive either

Without a budget it's hard to suggest £10/£100/£1,000/£10,000 speakers without it seeming like bad advice.

I'm a big KEF fan, BUT the bigger the better - I'm not so keen on the smaller ones (e.g. I don't like the LS50s). They tend to be very neutral so the rest of your system needs to be good..

The audio room is seventeen feet by twelve feet and carpeted, there is also a leather suite in it.

I am using Hitachi 3's at the moment and they sound half decent ChrisB.

Thank you for taking the time to reply to my query, I do not think the speakers you recommend would really go with my leather suit however. I acknowledge that appearance is a very personal taste but the MBL do not appeal to me, sorry.

Without a budget it's hard to suggest £10/£100/£1,000/£10,000 speakers without it seeming like bad advice. The turntable was £800 The Amp I got second hand for £350 So I guess my budget is £350 - £700.

The Kent Engineering Foundry C5 is currently on offer at £249:95. At that price I feel it has to go on my list, very many thanks, I had not considered this make.
