I couldn't see any other thread that was relevant. It's not really a teething trouble I have a Hudl2 tablet (excellent device - thoroughly recommended) and couldn't post on the forum whilst in France. I've just tried again in the UK. Same problem - so its the software. When I select "reply" the create post box opens, but no keyboard appears, so I can't type anything. I know I get my passwords confused, and my list was at home in England, so I didn't try Tapatalk I have just installed it - and we are off to a bad start. Typing "the audio standard" in the search box has found over 100 other forums so far, including AOS, Pink Fish, DIY audio and Hifi Wigwam - but NOT the forum called "The audio standard". Anyway - I prefer not to use mobile apps on large tablets, but use the desktop interface where possible. I didn't get the problem on any of my browsers on the Galaxy (I don't think) Any suggestions? (A question it is safer to ask following the latest departure

Clueless I'm afraid Richard, but it just occurs to me that the Hudl search function must have been designed by an evil-being because searching via Google or Bing always brings up 'our' TAS at the top of the list. Try typing the URL in? theaudiostandard.net/

In Tapatalk, just type the forum URL theaudiostandard.net and it'll find us. Tapatalk is good, I love it on my phone. As for the keyboard disappearing, it's a common issue with tablets. Sometimes I have to 'persuade' the keyboard to appear by touching another part of the text, and then it sticks. There is a third alternative: the ProBoards App.

OK. Just installed Firefox and I'm using it to reply. This used to be my favourite browser, but both pm version and Android have been unstable recently. Bit of a battle logging on - unnoticed space character in username. So apparently android chrome was the problem. I have uninstalled tapatalk - very little patience - but may have another look when less busy. Thanks for advice

I couldn't get on with Tapatalk but I am not great with new formats and interfaces. I also did not enjoy using Chrome on IPad or laptop. Probably not what you'd want but I can vouch for iPad use abroad. I've used a few extensively overseas and never had a problem.

Safari also has its foibles. It's best to always have two browsers installed on every machine.
I have IE11 and Chrome on all of mine.

I couldn't get on with Tapatalk Neither could I at first. It takes some getting used to but it soon became my favourite mobile interface for forums, very quick and efficient to see what's left unread and catch up with replies.
Tapatalk is really worth pursuing.

I binned my ipad because of the number of times in France (and a couple in the UK) that I couldn't log on to a wifi and got the answer "ah - you're using Apple. We always get that problem with iPads". My iphone was replaced with a Samsung galaxy for similar reasons.

I've got an iPhone (6) and an iPad Mini and don't have any problem accessing the forum either via Tapatalk or Safari - not tried it in France though.

I use an iPad Mini both with WiFi and also for a laugh a 4G data sim.
This is written on said iPad and using Chrome w WiFi. Safari can do it too and Tapatalk works as well (very useful for those pages awash with pictures)
I wouldn't ascribe any off them as problematic any more than other forums
I do use a separate keyboard (Bluetooth)

My ipad problems were a few years back. It was something to do with the ports it used in relation to the wifi security . That and an inability to view flash webpages, when the French distributor for the breakdown spare I needed used a flash homepage was the last straw. Being lectured on how businesses should design their web page by Apple was no help to me wanting to access the Web for its intended purpose - universal availablity. A device I was using primarily as a web browser which couldn't access nearly 50% of content and was temperamental about wifi connections caused my very limited patience to fail Of course bloody androids don't support flash either now. I miss garageband, and a little bit the slicker user interface, but otherwise I am happy to be apple-free. The Hudl2 is far better than its cheap price tag and supermarket own-brand would have you believe. It's a really good, stable, high quality modestly priced tablet.

Flash will eventually be completely superseded by HTML5. Of course, that doesn't mean that thousands of websites aren't still using Flash for the foreseeable future!
